Amadeus Reports Stronger Bookings in Third Quarter

Spanish travel technology company Amadeus has reported third-quarter earnings slightly above market expectations, supported by a recovery in bookings across several regions. The company said customer activity improved compared with the previous three months, offering some support after a difficult year for the travel industry. Amadeus operates one of the world’s largest travel booking systems and provides technology used by airlines, travel agencies and other companies.

The company recorded core earnings of 694.1 million euros for the quarter, slightly higher than the average analyst estimate of 691.5 million euros. Bookings increased by more than 10% compared with the second quarter, with improvements reported across all major regions. A stronger recovery in passenger numbers in the Middle East and Africa, together with steady performance in Europe, helped offset weaker results from some Southeast Asian airlines.

Chief Executive Luis Maroto said the company remained on track to meet its 2026 financial outlook, although he expected results to reach the lower end of the forecast range. The prolonged conflict in the Middle East has affected travel demand and disrupted airline operations. Amadeus had already reduced its annual revenue outlook in July after the war affected bookings and created uncertainty across the travel sector.

The company’s performance has also been influenced by a wider technology market downturn. Investors have become more cautious about technology companies because of concerns that artificial intelligence could change the value of some existing software businesses. Amadeus shares have faced pressure as part of that wider trend, even though its core travel booking services continue to support major parts of the industry.

The latest results suggest that travel activity is improving, but the company still faces challenges in several markets. Airline schedules, passenger confidence and regional security conditions may influence demand in the final months of the year. The Middle East remains a particularly important factor because disruptions there can affect international routes and travel plans.

Amadeus will now focus on maintaining its booking growth while managing the effects of global uncertainty. Its results show that demand has improved from the previous quarter, but the company remains cautious about the full-year outcome. Investors will be watching whether stronger travel activity can continue into 2027.
