The leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) has used billions of dollars in earthquake relief funds, which have flowed from domestic and international donors to victims of a devastating earthquake in Turkey in February, to direct extremist groups. and extremists aim to build buildings that will help promote a politicized Islamist ideology.

The government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, rooted in political Islam and pursuing a pro-MB policy, has welcomed MB’s offer to settle in about a dozen provinces. Over the past few weeks, MB’s senior delegation has held many meetings with government officials, including at the ministerial level, visited earthquake areas and took pictures with locals.

MB’s main organization, the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), was the public forum for introducing projects developed by MB to the Turkish authorities. MB’s main goal is to establish an Islamic center with a mosque and a school. This should help spread their ideology in the southern and southeastern Turkish provinces in the name of humanitarian aid and relief work. Supreme leaders of IUM, including IUM President Sheikh Habib Salem Al-Saqqaf Al-Jifri. IUMS Executive Director Sheikh Ali Al Karadagi. Director Sheikh Osama Al-Rifai; Sheikh Wassef Ashur, the main mufti of the Syrian opposition, is also a board member and visited several provinces in the earthquake zone last week.

They were accompanied by IUMS Turkish Board members He Abdulvahap Ekinci and his Ömer Faruk Korkmaz. Ekinci said he works as the Turkish representative of IUMS and operates the Turkish version of the organization under the name Uluslararası Müslüman Alimler Derneği (UMAD), which is registered with the Turkish Ministry of Interior.

Korkumaz, who is also a board member of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Aid Foundation (Insan Hak ve Hurriyetlerive Insani Yardım Vakfı, or IHH), said in Turkey he is the spokesperson for IUMS. His main IUMS contact in Turkey is Al-Kaladagi, also known as the Turkish version of his name, Ali-Kaladagi. He has been awarded a VIP protocol by the Erdogan government and frequently appears at various government events, posing with Erdogan and ministers.

His IUMS support for Erdogan is in the eyes of Turkish Islamists who have worked hard to keep him in power for fear of losing the perks and privileges that the Erdogan government has bestowed over the last two decades. gives credence to such claims.

The Muslim Brotherhood’s spiritual leader, the late IUMS chairman Yusuf al-Qaradhawi, calls Muslim Ummah leader Erdogan at the 2018 meeting to support him and pray for him I asked everyone to He congratulated Erdogan on his ambition to take the lead in the Muslim world, saying Erdogan and his allies in the government will shake up the Muslim world, help Muslims around the world and end attacks on Muslims. rice field. He lashed out at Saudi Arabia, accusing the Saudi leadership of targeting the Muslim Brotherhood, and claiming that Saudi Arabia’s actions had nothing to do with Islam. In exchange for supporting Erdogan, a brutal and authoritarian leader who oppresses his own people, MB is allowed to set up schools, foundations, corporations and other institutions in Turkey.

Official statements made by IUMS officials belied the Erdogan government’s failure to manage the post-earthquake response, poor coordination of search and rescue operations, and the death toll of more than 50,000 people.
