Iran arrests singer for song encouraging Hijab removal

Mehdi Yarrahi, a conspicuous Iranian pop vocalist, was captured byb Iranian experts on Monday subsequent to delivering a tune praising the commemoration of the Mahsa Amini fights coming up the following month.
According to a statement made on Monday by the Islamic Republic’s Mizan News Agency, which is affiliated with the judiciary, Iran claimed that the “illegal song” was the reason for his arrest.

Yarrahi’s legal counselor, Mostafa Nili, affirmed the capture in a post on X, previously known as Twitter.

Amir Hosein Koohkan, Karami’s attorney, was also detained on the same day and later released, only to be detained once more.
