Un accord historique<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nL’informelle alliance du Pacifique relanc\u00e9e durant le mandat de l’ex pr\u00e9sident Donald Trump, s’est form\u00e9e dans les ann\u00e9es 2000 pour contrer la puissance chinoise. Hier, le pr\u00e9sident Joe Biden a convoqu\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois le Premier ministre australien Scott Morrison, le Premier ministre indien Narendra Modi et le Premier ministre japonais Yoshihide Suga, pour une r\u00e9union au plus haut niveau. A l\u2019ordre du jour: le changement climatique et un focus sur la pand\u00e9mie du Coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La porte-parole de la Maison Blanche, Jen Psaki, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 mardi : “Le fait que le pr\u00e9sident Biden ait choisi d\u2019en faire un de ses premiers \u00e9v\u00e9nements multilat\u00e9raux d\u00e9montre l\u2019importance que nous donnons \u00e0 une coop\u00e9ration \u00e9troite avec nos alli\u00e9s et partenaires de la r\u00e9gion indo-pacifique.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
De hauts responsables de l’administration am\u00e9ricaine ont inform\u00e9 la presse que le “quad” de l’alliance Pacifique devra annoncer “un accord historique pour d\u00e9velopper la capacit\u00e9 de production de vaccins” afin de faire face aux “graves p\u00e9nuries en Asie du Sud-Est”, et ce par des “v\u00e9hicules financiers complexes qui permettront une augmentation tr\u00e8s importante, franchement drastique, des capacit\u00e9s de production de vaccins, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 un milliard en 2022”, d’apr\u00e8s leurs d\u00e9clarations. Cette production acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9e compte en premier lieu sur les usines indiennes, et sur le vaccin am\u00e9ricain Johnson & Johnson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malgr\u00e9 sa d\u00e9claration selon laquelle il souhaite donner la priorit\u00e9 de vaccination \u00e0 la population am\u00e9ricaine, Joe Biden esp\u00e8re par cette initiative faire concurrence \u00e0 l’activisme de la Chine qui multiplie les exportations de ses vaccins partout dans le monde, et contrer le monopole chinois dans la r\u00e9gion de l’Asie du Sud-Est.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Je pense qu\u2019il y aura une discussion ouverte et honn\u00eate sur le r\u00f4le de la Chine sur la sc\u00e8ne internationale”, a affirm\u00e9 un responsable am\u00e9ricain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
