A new selection of films, music, theatre productions and exhibitions is giving audiences plenty of options for the coming week. A culture guide published on Saturday highlights several releases across cinemas, streaming platforms and live venues. The recommendations include a new dark comedy from filmmaker Martin McDonagh, fresh music from established artists and stage productions featuring well-known performers.
One of the cinema highlights is Wild Horse Nine, a dark comedy directed by McDonagh. The film is among a wider group of titles attracting attention from audiences looking for new stories on the big screen. Other recommendations include the Spanish queer drama La Bola Negra, a film exploring the creation of the famous boxing story Rocky, and the documentary One in a Million. Together, the selections cover a wide range of subjects and styles.
Live music is also an important part of the week’s programme. Bristol’s Simple Things festival and the London Jazz Festival are among the events attracting music fans. An anniversary show celebrating SBTV is another major recommendation, while classical music audiences can attend a performance of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. The range of events gives audiences opportunities to experience both contemporary music and established concert works.
Theatre recommendations include a special 30th-anniversary performance connected with Adam and Joe, as well as Caryl Churchill’s play Cloud 9. Actor Michael Sheen is also appearing in Owain and Henry, while dance company Humanhood is presenting its work Vortex. These productions show how live performance continues to offer a mix of established plays, new interpretations and experimental movement.
For people who prefer to stay at home, the guide highlights several television and streaming options. These include the thriller 12 12 12, Hunting Alice Bell, The Good Daughter and Cunk on Cinema. Gaming fans can also explore The Devil’s Due and a remastered version of Shrek 2. The selection covers different audiences, from viewers looking for suspense to those who prefer comedy or familiar entertainment.
Music releases are another major feature of the week. New albums are arriving from Kings of Leon, Shygirl, Skepta and La Roux, offering a mix of rock, electronic music and contemporary pop. Art exhibitions exploring Istanbul’s history, ecological landscapes, colonialism and climate change are also included. The guide shows that the coming week offers a broad cultural programme, with options for people who enjoy cinema, live music, theatre, visual art and entertainment at home.
